Bye Bye 17, Hello 18: my concluding letter
Hey everyone! It's been a while. I have neglected my blog for the past month or so but it has definitely been a whirlwind of a month. From my 18th birthday, to my first night out to the unexpected shock that was results day, I could not have asked for a better month. I achieved a Distinction* in Health and Social Care and an A in SOCIOLOGY! I am now going to the University of Huddersfield in September to study Behavioural Sciences.
All of these events got me thinking about the past year and how turbulent yet rewarding it has been. I decided that I write a letter to an age that has really gave me a run for my money. So here goes...
Dear 17,
I am a bit late in writing you this letter considering I turned 18 two weeks ago. But oh well. 17, I was so happy to get rid of you. You have given me so much pain, trouble and tiring times. You have made days feel months, months like years at some points, I really was struggling to see a way out.
At some points, you tried to take my youth away from me. You unleashed my worst enemy but a close accomplice - Cystic Fibrosis. You threw disappointment after disappointment at me and tried to crumble my hopes and dreams to the ground.
But then I realised something so important. You have taught me so many invaluable lessons. You have taught me that life is extremely unpredictable and that life is a curveball. You have made me stronger, tougher, braver, more determined and more passionate than ever.
I am going to keep it short and sweet. You may try and present yourself through another age such as 21, or 20 or whatever you choose. But I will tell you this, I will definitely be giving you another run for your money.
17, I gladly say bye bye. I wish you well even though at times you didn't wish me well.
Hello 18!
So far, you have treated me kindly. You have rewarded me with hope, success, stability, health and happiness. I don't know what else you have in store for me. But just know I won't go down without a fight either. I really do hope we can be friends!
So everyone! Thank you for reading and I really hope you enjoyed my mini letters. I feel they are a short and sweet way to sum up how you feel and reflect on what's gone on.
I definitely will be blogging more.
All my love,
Nu xxx
